Welcome to our Great Wisconsin Birdathon Team fundraising page! To raise support and awareness for Wisconsin's birds, we've joined this walkathon-style fundraiser in which my teammates and I will try to find as many bird species as possible on a single day
This year we are counting birds on May 15th on the Mazomanie Oak Barrens in northwest Dane County and locations in the Madison area. In our seventh year, 2019, we counted 65 species.
Many of you knew Jean Clausen, who counted birds on the river for 40 years. She was a member of the Mazomanie Mavens team and did a feeder watch until 2014 at 99. Some species have disappeared in recent years: meadowlark, red-headed woodpecker and kestrel. So please consider making a donation in memory of Jean.
Pledges can be made per species or as a fixed donation. Donations will be accepted until October 15th this year because the birdathon has been extended due to Covid19. No amount is too small--even small contributions add up! This year the Great Wisconsin Birdathon aims to raise $100,000 for bird conservation in Wisconsin. Your contribution supports the priority projects of the Bird Protection Fund.
