We are the Biggs-Meyer Family, aka The Buffleheads, aka the MOST SERIOUS birding team in the history of NRF.

Bad joke aside, Andy and I are both hobby and career conservationists looking to improve our birding skills while supporting a cause we believe in. We live along Lake Michigan, and could not imagine a world without our Great Lakes and the great wildlife they support. Our team name celebrates the first species we ID'd in the field together as a couple.

To raise support and awareness for Wisconsin's birds, We've joined this walkathon-style fundraiser in which we try to find as many bird species as possible on a single day of our choice between April 15 and June 15.

We are using this opportunity to explore parts of Wisconsin we have not seen yet, and to visit State Natural Areas that we have never been to.

Please consider supporting us with a pledge-per-species or a flat donation. No amount is too small--every contribution adds up! This year the Great Wisconsin Birdathon aims to raise $100,000 for bird conservation in Wisconsin.

Your contribution supports the priority projects of the Bird Protection Fund:

  • Conservation of endangered Kirtland's Warblers, Whooping Cranes, and Piping Plovers
  • Monitoring of shorebirds, waterbirds, endangered terns
  • Community engagement and habitat protection through Bird City Wisconsin
  • The Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II

The Great Wisconsin Birdathon has raised over $500,000 for Wisconsin's birds since 2012. We have done so much, but there is still so much more to do.

Thank you for joining us in making a sustainable future for Wisconsin's birds!
