Thanks for visiting! Our team is named after the northern shrike, a very unique bird in Wisconsin! Shrikes are predatory songbirds and "skewer" their prey on sticks (see here!). Three Shrikes and You're Out is a team made up of graduate students studying ecology at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Our research projects encompass topics such as impacts of climate change on snowshoe hares, small mammal diversity in Wisconsin and black-bear genetics. Although all different projects, there is one common thread throughout... we care about the environment and the critters that live here! Please help us support Wisconsin's beautiful and in-dangered birds.
To raise support and awareness for Wisconsin's birds, we've joined this walkathon-style fundraiser in which teammates will try to find as many bird species as possible on a single day between April 15 and June 15 (our date is May 9th). We'll visit our favorite Wisconsin natural areas, find the birds that live there, and share our love of birds with the community.
Please consider supporting us with a pledge per species or donation. No amount is too small--even small contributions add up! This year the Great Wisconsin Birdathon aims to raise $100,000 for bird conservation in Wisconsin. Your contribution supports the priority projects of the Bird Protection Fund.
The Great Wisconsin Birdathon has raised over $500,000 for Wisconsin's birds since 2012. We have done so much, but there is still so much more to do. Thank you for joining me in making a sustainable future for Wisconsin's birds!
So important!! Enjoy the day!!
