Goal $1,500.00

$2,085.00Raised

Welcome to our Great Wisconsin Birdathon Team Page! On Monday May 13, the Baraboo Rangers will spend all day locating as many bird species as possible. Half of the dollars we raise go specifically toward local bird protection initiatives run by the Baraboo Range Preservation Association in the Baraboo Hills. BRPA's Board of Directors are matching the first $1000 pledged to our team to show organizational support for bird conservation.

Our Baraboo Rangers team is guided by BRPA Executive Director Todd Persche. Contact Todd at brange@baraboorange.org if you would like to join him for part of the day. We will meet at 6:00 a.m. in the Fairfield Marsh Waterfowl Production Area parking lot 3 miles east of Baraboo on Highway 33. It's a great place filled with at least 20 bird species to start the day. We'll sneak into the Potter Preserve to bird Boulder Creek, then head coffee in Baraboo for car-pooling and planning out our day's route.

After that we will explore Devil's Lake State Park, Riverland Conservancy's Merrimac Preserve, TNC's Baxter's Hollow and portions of the Sauk Prairie Recreation Area. This is an excellent chance for you to enjoy the diverse bird habitat found in the Baraboo Bluffs. Check out www.baraboorange.org to find out more about BRPA and thanks for supporting  the Baraboo Rangers and our state's amazing birds!

You can donate a set amount to our team, or pledge an amount per species that we see.

Please consider supporting us with a pledge or donation. No amount is too small--even small contributions add up! This year the Great Wisconsin Birdathon aims to raise $90,000 for bird conservation and research in Wisconsin. Your contribution supports the priority projects of the Bird Protection Fund, including:

  • Conservation of endangered Kirtland's Warblers, Whooping Cranes, and Piping Plovers;
  • Research, education, and habitat protection in Central and South America;
  • Monitoring of shorebirds, waterbirds, endangered terns;
  • Community engagement and habitat protection through Bird City Wisconsin;
  • The Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II.

The Great Wisconsin Birdathon has raised over $400,000 for Wisconsin's birds since 2012! We have done so much, but there is still so much more to do. Thank you for joining us in making a sustainable future for Wisconsin's birds!
