Appreciating our parks

  • The Goss Hawks (Ben Goss Bird Club) partnered with Waukesha County Parks. Team members visited 15 parks, finding 108 species and raising $2,268, half of which will go to planting trees in Waukesha County.

  • For the third year, Noel J. Cutright Bird Club's Walks in the Parks visited Ozaukee County Parks to find 123 species and raise $1,225, half of which supports the Breeding Bird Atlas II.

Engaging young birders

  • Wilder York, a 10-year-old boy with autism and a passion for birds, lead the team of (former) non-birders, Wilder's Wild Warbler Watchers, to find 15 species and raise $295.

  • Mr. Dargatz's Nature Kindergarten completed their second Birdathon service-learning project, able to identify 40 birds and raise $120.

  • The MadTown Peeps gathered up $930 and 32 species, including nesting Merlins!

Experiencing Wisconsin's wonders

Special fundraising field trips by the Natural Resources Foundation raised $20,000 for the Bird Protection Fund. Participants banded Common Terns, hummingirds, Red-shouldered Hawks, and Northwoods migrants; learned bird photography techniques; paddled and biked to see birds; and visited Frog Bay, the nation's first Tribal National Park.
