Welcome to our Great Wisconsin Birdathon fundraising page! We're back this year and will run our Door County through Green Bay to Horicon route again after finding more than 190 species the last two years. We're hoping to finally hit the extremely challenging yet possible 200 mark that only few have done in the state before. We'll need a good migration and good weather but it's possible! We know that because our total from the past two years combined is over 200.

This year, the Secretary Birds add another member, Aaron Haycraft of Rock County. We hope that adding his skills and companionship will give our team another piece in hitting that 200 mark!

To raise support and awareness for Wisconsin's birds, we've joined this fundraiser in which we will try to find as many bird species as possible, around May 20th. We'll visit our favorite Wisconsin natural areas, find the birds that live there, and share our love of birds with the community.

Please consider supporting us with a pledge or donation. No amount is too small--even small contributions add up! This year, The Year of the Bird, the Great Wisconsin Birdathon has set an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 for bird conservation and research in Wisconsin. Your contribution supports the priority projects of the Bird Protection Fund, including:

  • Conservation of endangered Kirtland's Warblers and Whooping Cranes;
  • Research, education, and habitat protection in Costa Rica and Peru;
  • Monitoring of shorebirds, waterbirds, and waterfowl on Lake Michigan and in east-central Wisconsin;
  • Community engagement and habitat protection through Bird City Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Stopover Initiative;
  • The Wisconsin Bird Monitoring Program and Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II.

The Great Wisconsin Birdathon has raised over $300,000 for Wisconsin's birds since 2012! We have done so much, but there is still so much more to do. Thank you for joining me in making a sustainable future for Wisconsin's birds!
