Why Birdathon?

We believe that birds are valuable and NEED OUR HELP. The Natural Resources Foundation's Great Wisconsin Birdathon unites thousands of birders, conservationists, and people across Wisconsin who cherish our state's wildlife and natural wonders. Each spring individuals and organizations create teams to find as many bird species as possible in a single day, while raising funds to support priority bird conservation projects in Wisconsin.

Our Fundraising Goal

The Great Wisconsin Birdathon is an annual walkathon-style fundraiser that has raised over $400,000 for bird protection since 2012! In fact, we raised over $88,000 for the Bird Protection Fund in 2018 alone! Read the 2018 Birdathon report  for all the stories.

Our goal this year is to raise at least $90,000 through team donations, sponsorships, and Bird Protection Fund field trips!

Join the Birdathon!

The Birdathon is for everyone: individuals, friends and families, classrooms and clubs. Every pledge and donation you raise supports bird conservation and research projects in Wisconsin and beyond.

Gather a team of your friends, family, and co-workers and join us for the Great Wisconsin Birdathon! Count birds for a morning or as long as 24 hours, any day from April 15-June 15, anywhere in Wisconsin.
